The Scranton Area Community Foundation announces the addition of a Philanthropy Manager position to its dedicated team. We’re seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy individual to oversee our diverse range of charitable funds, collaborate with our leadership team, and engage with donors to drive impact in our community.

About the Position

This is a new position within the Foundation. The Scranton Area Community Foundation is seeking a Philanthropy Manager to perform a broad range of administrative and donor-facing tasks related to the Foundation’s 350+ restricted funds. Working in partnership with the COO and senior donor relations staff and reporting directly to the CEO, the Philanthropy Manager will be responsible for establishing, administering, and overseeing charitable funds, including scholarships, donor advised, agency endowments and other types of funds. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong interpersonal and donor or client engagement skills, time-management and organizational skills, and a proficient technological ability, including the use of Microsoft and Google products, such as Word/Docs, PowerPoint/Slides, Gmail, etc. This candidate must be motivated and have a willingness to learn and adapt quickly.


Schedule

This is a full-time position Monday through Friday between 9 am. and 5 p.m. Occasional evening events may be required. The position will be in our Scranton-based office with the ability to work from home two days per week.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

* Work closely with existing donors and their advisors to execute their charitable goals through creation and management of endowed and non-endowed funds.

* Cultivate and steward a portfolio of prospects, donors, and professional advisors.

* Regularly represent SACF at scheduled on-site and off-site events on the weekdays, and occasionally on weekends as needed.

* Make presentations to stakeholders as needed.

* Work with existing donors to grow or establish a fund.

* Assist with the development of guidelines relating to donors and fund development.

* Work collaboratively with other team members to provide optimal donor support.

* Draft fund agreements utilizing templates and based on donor’s charitable goals.

* Provide ongoing oversight of distributions from funds, including but not limited to outgoing grants, ensuring adherence to donor intent and prevailing regulations.

* Work closely with the accounting and finance team to help in the administration of funds, including delivery of quarterly and annual fund statements; calculation of available grant spending; execution of grants and other fund distributions; and any other related tasks in overseeing and managing the Foundation’s charitable funds.

*Troubleshoot donor questions in concert with other relevant team members.


Expected Outputs:

*Manage a portfolio of donors and professional advisors in accordance with objectives set with supervisor.

*Generate new charitable funds on an annual basis, in accordance with objectives set with supervisor.

*Cultivate and support new philanthropic relationships.

*Steward existing funds by providing support to donors.

*Provide regular and ongoing reporting to donors of existing funds.

*Assist in the processing of grants and other distributions from existing funds.


Position Requirements:

*Bachelor’s Degree.

*Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to speak clearly and respectfully to a variety of stakeholders, including current and prospective donors.

*Active listening skills.

*Proactive relationship-development capabilities.

*High proficiency in the use of technology, including but not limited to Microsoft and Google products.

*Strong ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately.

*Desire to work in fast-paced environment.

*Detail-oriented with above average organizational skills

*Strong desire to learn, especially a new CRM software.

*Reliable time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines.

*Strong ability to work independently as well as with a team.

*High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

*Exemplary communication skills.

*Self-motivated, proactive, and creative problem solver.


Preferred, But Not Required:

*Client or Donor development and management experience.

*Understanding of planned giving and development principles

*Financial and/or nonprofit experience

*Master’s Degree or Advanced Certification


Compensation and Benefits

Salary range  $55,000-$62,000 depending on experience. Position includes premium health, dental, and vision insurance benefits with modest cost-share by employee. Insurances begin on the first day of the month following the employee’s start date. Short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance benefits included which begin six (6) months following the employee’s start date. Contributions into a pension plan (SEP-IRA) are also included. Competitive time off policy offered.
