Empowering Scranton’s Heritage

Preserving the rich tapestry of Scranton’s history and the green sanctuaries that define our city, the Electric City Foundation has been unveiled as a visionary initiative. In a joint announcement on Wednesday, November 9th, the City of Scranton and the Scranton Area Community Foundation proudly introduced this philanthropic venture.

A Collaborative Commitment to Preservation

The Electric City Foundation is a collaborative effort between the City of Scranton and the Scranton Area Community Foundation, aimed at safeguarding the longevity of our cherished parks and historic landmarks. This initiative is dedicated to supporting programs, projects, and organizations that contribute to the well-being of the Scranton community.

Laura Ducceschi, President and CEO of the Scranton Area Community Foundation, emphasized the profound impact of this collaboration. “Through the new Electric City Foundation established at the Scranton Area Community Foundation, many areas of focus in the City will benefit residents and the community,” she stated. The Foundation’s reach extends to the preservation of city buildings, enhancement of city parks, and more.

Strength in Collaboration for a Stronger Community

The Electric City Foundation stands as a testament to the power of collaboration. It showcases how the synergy between the City of Scranton and the Scranton Area Community Foundation can lead to the creation of a robust charitable foundation. Laura Ducceschi highlighted, “The Electric City Foundation is a perfect example of how collaboration can lead to a stronger community. We are grateful to partner with the City of Scranton to administer this new charitable Foundation.”

As we embark on this philanthropic journey, the Electric City Foundation invites everyone to be a part of this collective effort to shape the future of Scranton positively. Together, we can ensure the enduring legacy of our city’s heritage and green spaces.
