  • The Arc of NEPA Foundation Fund
    This fund was established by the Arc of NEPA Foundation as an organizational endowment fund to support the mission of The Arc of NEPA.
  • Countryside Conservancy Fund
    Established by the Conservancy as an endowment to support their operations and programs in caring for land and natural resources.
  • Frank T. Dolbear Memorial Fund
    This fund was established with the Foundation, by the Abington Heights School District to honor the memory of a respected and loved former superintendent of schools. This Fund provides opportunities for training to enhance the professionalism of AHSD faculty
  • Easter Seal Society of the Northeastern Counties Endowment Fund
    Established 1989 to support the charitable and educational purposes of the Easter Seals Society/ Goodwill Industries.
  • Griffin Pond Animal Shelter Endowment Fund
    This fund supports the ideals of the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in providing safe space for animals as they await adoption. This endowment lays the groundwork for achievement of the Shelter’s long term objectives
  • Leadership Lackawanna Fund
    Leadership Lackawanna established this fund to support its mission for leadership development in Lackawanna County.
  • Marworth Endowment Fund
    This fund was created by Marworth and Geisinger to support people with the courage to change and overcome the obstacles to recovery from alcohol and chemical dependency.
  • Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic Orchestra William R. and Natalie Henkelman Fund
    An endowment fund established in 2009 by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic Orchestra through a gift made to the Philharmonic by Natalie and William Henkelman. Grants from this fund will be used for the NEPA Orchestra Youth Piano Competition.

  • William P. Rinaldi Leadership Lackawanna Fund
    Leadership Lackawanna and family and friends of Bill Rinaldi established a fund in Bill’s memory for tuition assistance for individuals who have been accepted into Leadership Lackawanna.
  • Scranton Council For Literacy Advance Fund (SCOLA)
    Established 2002 by the Scranton Council For Literacy Advance to promote literacy and to further the mission of SCOLA.
  • Scranton Public Library Memorial Fund
    Established in 2000 by the Scranton Public Library as a fund to further the Scranton Public Library ‘s mission.
  • William W. & Mary L. Scranton Leadership
    Established in honor of the Scrantons and their leadership in origination of Leadership Lackawanna. The fund will provide tuition assistance to individuals who are accepted into the Leadership Lackawanna Program.
  • United Way of Lackawanna County Endowment Fund
    Established 1984 by the United Way as a fund to support the charitable and educational purposes of the United Way of Lackawanna County.
  • Voluntary Action Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania Fund
    Established in 1986 by The Voluntary Action Center as a fund to support the charitable and educational purposes of the VAC.
  • Karen O’Connell Welles Leadership Lackawanna Fund
    This fund was established in memory of Karen O’Connell Welles to provide tuition for a participant in Leadership Lackawanna. The Award is given to an individual based on potential for leadership, need and interest in promoting equality
  • YMCA of Scranton Endowment Fund
    This fund was established by the YMCA as a fund to advance the mission of the Young Men’s Christian Association.
  • American Legion A. Pierson Hurd Academic Scholarship
    Established by the American Legion A. Pierson Hurd Post 236 in Blakely, PA for a scholarship for a student from Blakely Borough whose family member(s) have served or are serving in the military.

Donor Advised Funds

  • The Broderick Family Fund
    This fund was established in August 2011 by Don and Rosemary Broderick, two philanthropic and community-minded individuals, to support important causes in Lackawanna County. Don and Rosemary Broderick are advisors on grants from this fund.
  • The Anastasia Fund
    Established 2003 This donor advised fund was established by the family and friends of Stacey Jaditz, and an anonymous donor in memory of a beloved young lady of many talents.
  • Sgt. Jan-Michael Argonish Memorial Fund
    A donor advised fund established as a memorial endowment fund in memory of their son, Sgt. Jan-Michael Argonish who served our country in the United States Army.
  • Jeanne Anderson Bovard Fund
    Established 2000 by an anonymous donor and friends of Jeanne, as a donor advised fund. The Bovard family, including Jeanne and Venald’s grandchildren, are advisors on grants from this fund.
  • Jodi S. Crimmel Fund
    Established in 1999 by Jodi Crimmel as a Donor Advised Fund. Jodi and her family are advisors on grants from this fund.
  • Anna E. Durkin Memorial Fund
    Mr. & Mrs. William R. Lynett established this Donor Advised Fund in memory of their loyal and devoted family friend, Anna Durkin. The Lynett family are advisors on grants from this fund.
  • Fleese-Ludders Fund
    Established in 2009 by Robert Fleese and Gretchen Ludders as a donor advised fund. Donors may make recommendations to the Foundation annually for grants from their fund.
  • The Max Grochowski Fund
    The mission of the Maximilian J. Grochowski Memorial Fund is to provide charitable donations to children’s organizations and other non-profits that honor the memory of Max. We provide financial grants that support children’s organizations, mothers of multiples, and educational institutions. Put simply, we give back to the organizations and institutions that provided us and countless other families with so much support over the years. 
  • Humor Therapy Fund
    The income of this fund is to be used to help fund any activity by a 501-C-3 organization that promotes laughter and/ or humor for the benefit of its clients and/ or the community.
  • Ralph Keisling
    Donor advised fund established by Alice Keisling in honor of her late husband, Ralph Keisling.
  • Koppelman/Dinner Fund
    This Donor Advised Fund was established when the Theodore Koppleman Foundation transferred its assets to the Scranton Area Foundation creating the Koppleman/Dinner Fund. The Dinner family advises on grants from this fund.
  • Ann and Leo Moskovitz Celebration of Life Fund
    Many friends of Ann and Leo Moskovitz established this fund to honor Ann and Leo for years of service to our community. The donors of the funds wanted to celebrate the myriad ways their generous spirit, creative participation and dedication of resources have benefited the Scranton area and warmed the hearts of the Moskovitz’s friends.
  • One Point Fund
    Established 2000 by Forms Plus, Inc. (now One Point, Inc.) as a donor advised fund to carry out the charitable purposes of One Point, Inc. Advisors to the fund are the members of the One Point of Light Committee of One Point, Inc.
  • George A. Pann Memorial Fund
    The George A. Pann Memorial Fund was established by his family and friends to honor his life and years of dedicated service to our area’s business and community organizations. Through grants awarded to worthy causes in his name, George’s good work continues.
  • The Picknick Hill Fund
    Established in 1999 by Bruce Maza. The fund’s income and principal shall be distributed each year for those charitable purposes as recommended by the C.E. & S. Foundation, Inc.
  • Dr. Stephen I. Rosenthal & Sara Rosenthal Fund
    A donor advised fund created by Dr. and Mrs. Rosenthal for our community. Advisors are members of the Rosenthal family.
  • Brian J. Sheridan, Jr. Memorial Fund
    This fund was established in May 2013 by the family of Brian Sheridan through the generosity of many in the community to memorialize Brian Sheridan to benefit area charitable organizations.
  • Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Fund
    Established in 2000 by Tomorrow’s Leaders Today (a program of Skills in Scranton) as a donor advised fund. The young people of TLT are the fund advisors.

Donor Designated Funds

  • R. Matthew Burne Hope and Healing Fund
    This fund was established in February 2012 by Denise Vitali Burne in honor and in memory of her brother Matthew.  The fund’s purpose is to support Marley’s Mission, an organization that provides children with equine therapy.
  • Carlene R. Gallo, Esq., Robert T. Gownley, Jr., Esq., Morey & Sondra Myers, PNC Bank Fund for Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
    This fund was established in January 2012 by Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc. in honor of Carlene R. Gallo, Robert Gownley, Morey & Sondra Myers and PNC Bank to provide support to the mission and objectives of Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
  • Government Leadership Award Fund
    This fund was established by the Mayors Prayer Breakfast Committee in December 2012 to encourage civic leadership in the city of Scranton. This fund provides monetary assistance for an individual who has been accepted into the Leadership Lackawanna program and whose employer is not covering the cost, or for a small business owner paying their own way to the program.
  • Sylvia H. Hahn, Esq. Fund for Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
    This fund was established in December 2012 by donors to honor Sylvia Hahn’s years of service to Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc. Grants from this fund support the work and mission of Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
  • Paul J. Schmitt, Sr. & Helen Stapleton Schmitt Memorial Fund
    This fund was established in December 2012 by the family and friends of Paul and Helen Schmitt to benefit the Pennsylvania Arts Institute at Wyoming Seminary.
  • Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children Fund
    This fund was established by area businessmen in December 2012 to benefit students at the Scranton School for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Children.
  • Steamtown Museum Association Fund
    This fund has been established thru the Steamtown Museum Association to support the restoration and preservation of railroad artifacts and for related educational projects related to the Steamtown National Historical site.
  • Rocco Valvano Veterans Fund
    Established by Francis Merkel and the family of Rocco Valvano to assist in supporting activities and programs benefitting the Veterans residing at the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton.
  • Ned & Mary Ann Abrahamsen, George & Patti Lynett, Scranton Area Foundation Fund for Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
    Established by Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc. in honor of Ned & Mary Ann Abrahamsen, George & Patti Lynett and the Scranton Area Foundation to provide support to the mission and objectives of Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
  • Roseann Smith Alperin Memorial/Junior League of Scranton
    The Junior League of Scranton established the Roseann Smith Alperin Fund to honor the memory and community spirit of their fellow League member. This award is presented annually to a woman who demonstrates the vision of a leader and the capacity to inspire and motivate others.
  • Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award Fund
    The children of Margaretta Belin Chamberlin established this fund to honor the memory of their mother. An award may be presented annually to a woman whose vision, dedication and courage has enhanced the quality of life and expanded the opportunities for the people within her community.
  • Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Fund
    Established 1991 by the Lucan Center in memory of Margaretta Belin Chamberlin, the fund supports Arts in Education for youth, now thru the Scranton Cultural Center.
  • Margaret Briggs Leadership Lackawanna Fund
    In 1995, the Margaret Briggs Foundation established this fund to provide annual tuition assistance to an individual from the social services field to participate in the Leadership Lackawanna Program.
  • Lloyd T. Capwell YMCA Youth Activities Fund
    In celebration of his retirement as director of the YMCA after many years of service, Lloyd Capwell established this fund. Grants from the fund are used to further the mission of its Youth Activities Center.
  • John F. Finetti Memorial Fund John’s Camping Fund
    Family and friends of John Finetti established a fund in his memory for tuition assistance for children and youth of this area to enjoy the experience of camping at Goose Pond Scout Reservation or other overnight summer camps.
  • Catherine A. Foley, Esq. Memorial Fund for Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
    This fund was established in 2002 by Jill H. Miller, Esq. and Thomas J. Foley, Jr., Esq. in memory of Catherine A. Foley, Esq. Grants from this fund support the work and mission of Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc. It was the first Lackawanna Pro Bono Fund established at the Scranton Area Foundation.
  • Thomas G. Gallagher, Jr. United Way Operational Endowment Fund
    This fund was established to assist the United Way in meeting its operational expenses, particularly those incurred for the charitable or educational purposes of the United Way.

  • Wallace E. Gordon Memorial Fund
    Harry M. Gordon established a memorial fund for his son, Wallace E. Gordon. This fund benefits the Community Concerts at Lackawanna College, in which Wallace had a great interest.
  • Griffin Conservatory for Actors of the Electric Theatre Company
    Friends and supporters of The Northeast Theatre (Electric Theatre Co.) created this fund in memory of Fred W. Griffin for artistic development of actors who attend the conservatory.
  • Marion M. (Scranton) Isaacs Fund
    Former Governor William W. Scranton established this fund in memory of his sister, Marion Isaacs. Grants from this fund are used annually to purchase children’s books for the Marion M. Isaacs Children’s Division of the Scranton Public Library.
  • Ginny John Camp Archbald Fund
    Ginny John, lifetime Girl Scout, created a fund for the preservation of Camp Archbald as a Girl Scout campground.
  • Joseph C. Kreder Fund for Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
    Established by the Margaret Briggs Foundation in honor of a lifetime of service by Joseph as a member of the Lackawanna Bar Association, as partner and of counsel to the legal firm, Kreder Brooks Hailstone LLP and as a founding member of the Briggs Foundation.
  • Lackawanna Pro Bono Fund
    Established by Lackawanna Pro Bono to support their mission to recruit local attorneys who volunteer to provide free legal representation for indigent families and individuals regarding civil matters in Lackawanna County.
  • Patti Lynett Fund for the Everhart Museum
    Established by friends and board members of the Everhart Museum in honor of Patti Lynett’s service to the Everhart. Grants from this fund support and advance the mission of the Everhart Museum.
  • Mathew D. Mackie, Jr. Fund
    This fund was established by the Margaret Briggs Foundation in memory of Matt Mackie, Jr. Grants from this fund support the work and mission of two area nonprofit organizations: the Boys & Girls Clubs of NEPA and Safety Net
  • Patrick J. Mellody Memorial Fund
    The family and many friends of Patrick J. Mellody established this fund in his memory. The fund will be used to help maintain the Patrick J. Mellody memorial garden.

  • Rubin and Helen Rabinowitz Endowment Fund
    This fund was created through the Rubin and Helen Rabinowitz trust. Grants from this fund support the Jewish Federation of NEPA and its lectures program.
  • Janet Rothenberg Memorial Fund for Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
    Established in memory of Janet Rothenberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rothenberg and granddaughter of Irwin Schneider. Grants from this fund support the work and mission of Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
  • Philip Salsburg Memorial Fund
    Established by the United Way in memory of a well-respected citizen of the area and provides opportunities for training in the essential skills required of nonprofit staff people and volunteers.
  • James Scanlon Fund for Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
    Established by an anonymous donor in memory of James Scanlon, Esq. Grants from this fund support the work and mission of Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc.
  • UNA-USA of NEPA David J. Wenzel Peace Fund
    Established in 2000 by the United Nations Association-USA of NEPA in honor of David J. Wenzel. Grants from the fund are to be used for "Education for Peace" programs.
  • Karen O’Connell Welles Music Fund
    A music education fund created for the Lucan Center in memory of Karen O’Connell Welles by Karen’s family and friends and supports music and music education, now through the Scranton Cultural Center.
  • The Wilderness Fund
    Established by an anonymous donor, this fund provides scholarships for students at Scranton High School to participate in the Outward Bound Program, where they learn about self-reliance, developing trust and how to “strive to better love and serve the earth and others.”
  • Zak’s Helping Hands Fund
    Established in 2000 by Mr. and Mrs. Freedom Kongvold in honor of their son, Zak, to provide educational opportunities for families whose members have Downs Syndrome.
  • Donald P. Becker Wallenpaupack Scholarship Fund
    Lois Becker created this fund in memory of her husband to support the scholarship program at Wallenpaupack High School.

Field of Interest Funds

  • Ben Franklin Trust Fund
    The Ben Franklin Trust of the Scranton Area Foundation is a Field of Interest Fund for education. The earnings help to enrich the lives of those in the greater Lackawanna county area, ensuring the spirit of Mr. Franklin’s benevolence is kept alive.
  • Sarah Marie Heard Fund
    In 1994, Mr. & Mrs. William C. Heard established this fund in memory of their beloved daughter, Sarah Marie. This Field of Interest Fund provides grants for programs and services for children.
  • The Heather Fund
    In 1998, Janina Martin and an anonymous donor established this fund in memory of her daughter, Heather Martin. Grants from this fund are made to organ donor organizations.
  • Junior League of Scranton Endowment Fund
    Established in 2000 by the Junior League of Scranton to address women’s and children’s issues in our community.
  • The Molly Fund
    In 1994, Mr. & Mrs. William J. Calpin, Jr., with their family and friends, established the Molly Fund to memorialize and celebrate the life of Molly Elizabeth Calpin. This fund provides assistance to children facing catastrophic illness, and their families.
