The intern will work closely with the Scranton Area Community Foundation staff to ensure the success of the NEPA Gives online giving day. While NEPA Gives is 24 hours of giving, months of planning and coordination are required prior to the event to make it a success. This position will be an important part of the preparation and implementation. It will require interfacing with nonprofit organizations, understanding and navigating the Giving Day software, and assisting with the technical details of creating a successful fundraising event for the entire region.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Community Initiatives Director and Office Manager with the day-to-day management and planning of NEPA Gives
- Oversee and respond to inquiries into the dedicated NEPA Gives email address
- Research ideas, opportunities, and programs from other giving days outside our region
- Assist in planning the activities or events that will take place on or near the giving day
- Work closely with the internal communications team to design and curate content for our social media platforms
- Monitor social media channels, engage with the community, and respond to inquiries
- Understand current trends in social media and how to leverage these topics to create current and engaging content for our social media pages
About NEPA Gives
NEPA Gives is a one-day online giving extravaganza that’s all about giving back to the community. Scranton Area Community Foundation, along with 5 other foundations in NEPA, have joined together to help nonprofits raise money to achieve their missions. Since it is online, it is an easily accessible means for donors to support all of their favorite local charities simultaneously. NEPA Gives helps nonprofits increase awareness of their cause, region, or organization and rally supporters during a designated time with reliable, modern fundraising software that plays a critical role in the Giving Day success.
Length of Position
January 6, 2025, through July 4, 2025
Please note that NEPA Gives will take place on June 6, 2025, so availability is critical on that day and the weeks preceding and following that date.
Schedule
Anticipated 10 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Foundation operating hours are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The majority of the schedule will be within those timeframes.

Compensation
$14 per hour paid on a biweekly basis. The Foundation is willing to work with the intern’s college or university to secure educational credits if available and eligible.
Position Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college to receive educational credit, if applicable
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Skilled in Google Suite, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides
- Proficiency in Zoom is preferred
- Ability to work in an office setting at the Foundation’s offices in the Hill Section of Scranton
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Exemplary listening and communication skills
- Excellent collaboration skills with a desire to work in a team environment
- Self-motivated, proactive, and creative problem solver
