The Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award is presented annually to a woman whose vision, dedication and courage have enhanced the quality of life and expanded the opportunities for the people within her community. Established in 1992, by the family of Margaretta Belin Chamberlin, each recipient of the Award displays community-mindedness, demonstrates leadership, and exemplifies a similar passion and persistence as Margaretta Belin Chamberlin. The 2018 Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award recipient is Laurie Cadden. Laurie Cadden is president of Laurie Cadden Enterprises, LLC, a firm created in 2010 specializing in development, public relations and special events. She was born and raised in Scranton and is well-known for her service to the community, offering her time and talents to 35 civic groups and charitable organizations. She focuses on organizations that support local children and families in need, and those devoted to promoting the arts. To increase community awareness about the causes close to her heart, Laurie continuously shares their stories with local newspapers and appears on television regularly. She also co-hosts Live with Laurie and Lynn, a weekly radio program on WILK and hosts several shows on local cable network ECTV. Prior to founding her business, Laurie’s career began in the financial industry where she served as Branch Manager for several banks in the Philadelphia and Scranton areas. She is also certified as a paralegal, and is a licensed real estate agent. Such experience in the business world served her well as she transitioned into leadership and community development roles with organizations such as the Everhart Museum, Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, Broadway Theater League of Northeastern Pennsylvania, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart. One of four children of James and Ann LeBoutillier Cadden, Laurie grew up in West Scranton and is a proud graduate of West Scranton High School. When she isn’t working or volunteering, Laurie enjoys spending time with loved ones, particularly her fiancé, Myer Moskowitz, and her sons, Thomas J. Foley IV and Sean Cadden Foley. Of all her accomplishments, she is most proud to be their mother. The 2018 Margaretta Belin Chamberlin Award will be presented at the 2018 Women in Philanthropy Annual Event.
