Submit Your LOI for Fall 2024 Community Needs Grants!

The deadline for submitting a Letter of Intent for Fall 2024 Community Needs Grants is approaching!

All letters must be submitted by September 30, 2024 through our online portal.

Nonprofit organizations in Lackawanna County can apply for Community Needs Grants of up to $20,000 to support projects that address community needs in areas like education, arts, the environment, human services, animal welfare, and civic affairs.

Our grants support 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, schools, and government entities working to improve the lives of people in the Lackawanna County region. Applications will be reviewed by Foundation Leadership and the Grants Distribution Committee.

Key evaluation criteria include:

  • Community Impact: The project should clearly address a specific need and serve a defined population in Lackawanna County. Be sure to show how it will improve quality of life and include measurable outcomes within a set time frame.
  • Organizational Capability: Your organization should have a clear mission, a proven track record of success, sound financials, and experienced leadership or staff to ensure the project’s success.
  • Project Feasibility & Sustainability: Provide a detailed budget and explain how the project will be completed. Also, identify other sources of funding and plans for future support.

The grant application process begins with submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI) through the our online grant management portal. To submit an LOI, you will need to log on to your organization’s account in the portal. If your organization does not have an account established, you will need to create an account.


All grants must be used for a charitable purpose and be granted to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
