The fifth annual NEPA Gives, which took place on June 6th and 7th, 2024, raised $1,229,151 for 241 local nonprofit organizations and charitable causes across Northeastern Pennsylvania in just 24 hours.

The Scranton Area Community Foundation hosted the region’s largest giving event in partnership with The Luzerne Foundation, Wayne County Community Foundation, Greater Pike Community Foundation, Carbon County Community Foundation, the Community Foundation of Monroe County, Posture Interactive, and other community sponsors to raise awareness about the critical work nonprofit organizations carry out across the region and to help charitable organizations raise much-needed funds.
Nearly 7,000 donors generously supported NEPA Gives, which was also generously supported by numerous sponsors, including the Moses Taylor Foundation, the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Neighborly, Lamar Advertising, Schwartz Mack Foundation, Women in Philanthropy, the NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative, the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, Minooka Subaru, and many others.

A NEPA Gives opening celebration was held on Thursday, June 6, hosted by the Scranton Area Community Foundation and the Luzerne Foundation in partnership with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders at PNC Field. Kickoff events hosted by the Wayne County Community Foundation, the Greater Pike Community Foundation, and the Monroe County Community Foundation were held in Hawley and Stroudsburg, respectively.

The celebration continued on Friday, June 7, with a NEPA Gives Block Party on the 100 Block of Wyoming Avenue in Downtown Scranton. Over 30 participating nonprofits attended the event to engage with potential donors and share about the important work they do across the region. In addition, the event featured live entertainment by Daddy-O and the Sax Maniax, as well as food trucks, games, and more.
Additionally, to celebrate NEPA Gives, Mayor Paige G. Cognetti of the City of Scranton, Mayor George C. Brown of the City of Wilkes-Barre, and the Wayne Commissioners have officially declared June 6 and 7, 2024, as NEPA Gives Day.

“NEPA Gives is all about supporting the charities that are doing important work right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Laura Ducceschi, President and CEO of the Scranton Area Community Foundation. “We had a record-breaking year with nearly 7,000 generous donors supporting NEPA Gives this year providing support for hundreds of local charitable organizations,” she added.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes and matching incentives were awarded to participating nonprofits for notable achievements, all sponsored by generous businesses, foundations, and donors across the region.This was the fifth year for NEPA Gives. To date, NEPA Gives has raised over $5.2 million for hundreds of local nonprofit organizations in Northeastern Pennsylvania since it began in 2020.
