Heart of Scranton Virtual Fundraiser

Mayor of Scranton Paige Cognetti is leading a virtual fundraising event addressing food insecurity in partnership with Scranton Area Community Foundation’s NEPA COVID-19 Response Fund. The Heart of Scranton: A Virtual Fundraiser to Help our Neighbors is taking place from Noon on Thursday, April 30th until 7:00 pm on Friday, May 1.

Watch on Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 pm on ECTV Channel 19 (Comcast), or on youtube.com/ElectricCityTV570. All donations made during that time frame will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000! This is due to generous support from the NEPA COVID-19 Fund and philanthropic partners including Moses Taylor Foundation, Geisinger Foundation, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, and Minooka Subaru. Donors can choose to support CEO/Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank, Friends for the Poor, and Meals on Wheels of NEPA, or all three organizations.  One hundred percent of all donations (with the exception of credit card fees) will go directly to support these nonprofits who are doing mission-critical work to get food on the table in every home in the Scranton area. Donations will also be accepted by check made payable to the Scranton Area Foundation indicating “Heart of Scranton” in the memo mailed to the Scranton Area Community Foundation, 615 Jefferson Avenue, Suite 102, Scranton, PA 18510. We are grateful for your support to help address food insecurity in our area!

Thank you to our generous partners who have made the $100,000 match possible!

A very special thank you to Scranton’s Mayor Cognetti for spearheading this fundraiser to help to support bringing food to families across the Lackawanna County region during the COVID-19 crisis. One hundred percent of all donations (with the exception of credit card fees) will go directly to support these nonprofits who are doing mission-critical work to get food on the table in every home in the Scranton area:
