Women in Philanthropy Celebrates Matched Savings Program Graduates

On the evening of Tuesday, May 17, Women in Philanthropy members gathered at the Century Club in Scranton to honor the graduates of Women in Philanthropy’s Matched Savings Program. As participants in the Matched Savings Program, these women have worked to improve their lives through financial confidence classes & individual saving goals. Graduates have attended monthly financial confidence classes on topics such as budgeting, credit score repair, purchasing a home, buying or leasing a vehicle, understanding insurance, savings and investment strategies, understanding lease agreements, and recognizing financial abuse. These classes are developed and offered by volunteers, the majority of whom are supporters of Women in Philanthropy.

Matched Savings Program graduates hold their certificates of completion at Women in Philanthropy’s Matched Savings Program graduation. Standing along with the graduates are Laura Ducceschi and Maggie Martinelli of the Scranton Area Community Foundation and Ellen Burkey, chair of Women in Philanthopy’s Matched Savings Program.
