GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity that takes place on December 1, 2020. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

The Scranton Area Community Foundation proudly supports the #GivingTuesday movement! On Saturday, November 28, 2020, the Scranton Times-Tribune published an article about the importance of #GivingTuesday. Our President and CEO, Laura Ducceschi, was quoted in the article.

Your donation made to the Scranton Area Community Foundation on #GivingTuesday will go to support our Community Needs Fund, which is used to fund grants that are awarded to local nonprofit organizations throughout the year and helps us to respond to the continued timely and critical needs of our community.

Your contribution will help to continue our work meeting the most crucial needs and your gift stays right in our communities and neighborhoods.

This year continues to bring many challenges to our communities. Your generosity helps us to meet these pressing needs. Because of your generosity, we have been able to respond quickly to the increasing needs of our friends and neighbors. This year alone, you have helped us to provide funding support for 463 charitable programs in Northeastern Pennsylvania totaling over $3 million dollars. This was only possible because of you. We are asking for your support on #GivingTuesday as the needs of community-based charitable organizations increase.

For 66 years, the Scranton Area Community Foundation has partnered with friends like you to create a stronger, kinder, and more livable region.
