The Scranton Area Foundation has numerous Scholarship Funds which cover a diverse selection of studies, schools and recipients. If you feel that you meet the eligibility criteria for one or more of the listed scholarships, contact your High School Guidance Counselor for application instructions.
- Caroline Ace, LPN/Angela Muchal, LPN Scholarship Fund
A scholarship for students who matriculate in the Practical Nursing Program at the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County who is recommended by the CTC. Established by Theresa Parker, LPN, Donna Walker, LPN, Angela Muchal, LPN and Northeastern Pennsylvania League of Licensed Practical Nurses.
- James M. Akens North Pocono Athletic Trust Fund
Assists a graduating senior from North Pocono High School who will pursue a college degree and participate at college level in basketball, football or baseball.
- Catherine A. Alu Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Joseph Alu and family and friends in loving memory of Joseph’s wife, Catherine A. Alu. A scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior at Dunmore High School for educational expenses at an institution of higher education.
- Todd Angelo Memorial Scholarship Fund
This memorial scholarship fund was established in December 2011 by the Scranton District Dental Society to support excellence in dental student education in honor and memory of Dr. Todd Angelo.
- Sarah Beth Beynon Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by the family and friends of Sarah Beth Beynon to honor her memory by creating scholarships for cancer cure research and studies in environmental science.
- Constance M. and Joseph A. Brocavich Memorial Scholarship
Established by the children of Constance and Joseph Brocavich, this scholarship will be presented annually to one qualified 8th grade student from Lackawanna County for educational expenses at a Catholic High School who is active in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts and has a financial need. This scholarship is renewable for four years provided the recipient maintains a B average or higher.
- Blakely Borough Scholarship Association Fund
This fund provides an annual scholarship for an outstanding graduating student from Blakely to be used for college expenses. It was established by the Blakely Borough Scholarship Association.
- Margaret Briggs/Lackawanna College Scholarship Fund
Margaret Briggs Foundation established this fund. Two scholarships are awarded annually to students attending Lackawanna College.
- Sean J. Calpin Automotive Technology Scholarship
Established as a memorial to Sean by his family and friends. It provides a scholarship for a student in automotive technology (or other similar technology) at Johnson College.
- Joseph J. Costa Memorial Scholarship Fund
Lawrence F. and James J. Costa established a fund in their father’s memory. The award is presented annually to a student or students at Lackawanna College who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and citizenship.
- Jeffrey Morgan Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 as a scholarship award by Mr. and Mrs. William M. Davis & family in memory of their son, Jeffrey Morgan Davis.
- Dulcey Degilio Scholarship Fund
Established by family and friends of Dulcey to provide an annual scholarship to a graduate of Abington Heights High School who will be pursuing a college or university degree.
- Danielle Faramelli Scholarship Fund
Debbie and Daniel Faramelli created a memorial scholarship in their daughter’s name for a graduate of Valley View High School for educational expenses at a college or university to pursue a degree in art.
- Neal J. Fasula Scholarship Fund
A scholarship created by the Fasula family and friends to honor Neal Fasula, founder of Gerrity’s market, who was a man who cared deeply about his family, his community, and his employees. The scholarship reflects Neal’s desire and his family’s wish to further the educational development of the employees of Gerrity’s Supermarket.
- Willard M. Henkelman, Esq. Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Citizens Savings Association in memory of a revered attorney in our community, Willard M. Henkelman. A scholarship will be awarded annually to students from this area who will matriculate at Princeton University.
- Jefferson Scholarship Fund
The Jefferson Foundation established a fund to carry out the “Jefferson Scholarship Award” for scholarships which are presented annually to qualified students in nursing programs or related fields of study at colleges or universities.
- Junior League of Scranton Scholarship Fund
The Junior League of Scranton created a scholarship that will be given to a female graduating senior at Scranton High School or West Scranton High School for colleges, universities or vocational school degrees
- Keisling Family Scholarship Fund
Scholarship fund established by Alice Keisling in 2013.
- John & Grace Kreig Scholarship Fund
Assists a graduating student from Riverside Jr./Sr. High School with educational expenses at a college, university or institution of higher learning.
- Dr. E. C. LaCoe Scholarship Fund
Students from Abington Heights High School will benefit from the Dr. E.C. LaCoe Scholarship, established through gifts from Dr. LaCoe and friends as he retired as Superintendent of the Abington Heights School District.
- Greg Legg NEPA Diamond Scholarship Fund
A scholarship for a student from Lackawanna or Luzerne Counties who has played baseball in a high school program and will be enrolled in an institution of higher learning following high school graduation. The student must have been a member of the Lackawanna County All Regional Baseball Team as selected by the Scranton Times Tribune or a member of the Luzerne County Baseball All Star Team as selected by the Wilkes-Barre Citizens Voice and Hazleton Standard Speaker. The scholarship was established by Greg Legg, of the Phillies and Red Barons teams, and friends.
- #GaryInspiredMe Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was established in December 2012 by the family of Gary Lukasiewicz to give scholarships to seniors at a public and/or private high school in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. The scholarships are to be used for educational expenses at a four year college or university. Gary was an inspirational Riverside High School Senior who exemplified the qualities that inspire others, such as academic excellence, athleticism, and good citizenship.
- Richard and Sally Marquardt Education Fund
Richard and Sally Marquardt established this fund to provide grants to the scholarship endowment funds of college level educational institutions in Lackawanna County.
- Joseph P. McDonald Memorial Fund
The family of the former principal of Dunmore High School established this fund, to honor his memory. It provides three scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Dunmore High School.
- Jennifer Morgan Scholarship Fund
The family of Jennifer Morgan established a scholarship fund in her memory to be awarded annually to a graduating senior of Pittston Area High School who will pursue a degree in the field of education.
- Russell J. O’Malley and James E. O’Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund
Judith Graziano, John O’Brien and an anonymous donor in memory of Russell J. O’Malley, Esq. and James E. O’Brien, Esq. This fund provides a scholarship for a caddie or other employee of the Country Club of Scranton who is attending a public or private secondary or post-secondary educational institution.
- Joseph(Firp) and Charles Pacino Scholarship Fund
Established in 2010 through the estate of Lena Pacino for a graduating senior of Lakeland High School pursuing higher education. The scholarship is meant to honor the residents of Mayfield and to remember the dedication and affection of the Pacino family for their hometown.
- John R. and Maureen J. Pesavento All Saints Interparochial Academy Scholarship Fund for Holy Cross High School
John and Maureen Pesavento established this scholarship fund to provide an annual scholarship to Holy Cross High School to an eighth-grade student at All Saints Interparochial Academy.
- John R. and Maureen J. Pesavento Keystone College Scholarship Fund
A scholarship for a Lackawanna County high school graduate who enrolls as a full time undergraduate student at Keystone College.
- John R. and Maureen J. Pesavento Lackawanna College Scholarship Fund
A scholarship for a Lackawanna County high school graduate who enrolls as a full time undergraduate student at Lackawanna College.
- John R. and Maureen J. Pesavento All Saints Interparchial Academy Scholarship Fund for Scranton Preparatory School
John and Maureen Pesavento established this scholarship fund to provide an annual scholarship to Scranton Preparatory School School to an eighth-grade student at All Saints Interparochial Academy.
- Jane H. Rushmore Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund
Dr. Richard C. Rushmore and his family established this nursing scholarship in memory of his wife, Jane H. Rushmore. A scholarship will be awarded annually to a student in the practical nursing program at Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County.
- Scranton Central High School Alumni Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in July 2013 by the Scranton Central High School Alumni to support two scholarships for direct descendants of Scranton Central High School graduates who are also qualified graduating seniors at Scranton High School and at West Scranton High School for educational expenses at a college or university.
- Chris Till Sender Scholarship Fund
The family and friends of Chris Till Sender created this memorial scholarship in memory of a courageous and admired woman. The Fund will help with educational expenses for the recipient who attends a school of cosmetology in Lackawanna County.
- Dr. Bernard Shair Memorial Scholarship Fund
Mrs. Bernard Shair established a memorial fund for her late, beloved husband, who was a community leader for many years. The fund provides a scholarship for a student who has graduated from the University of Scranton and is attending dental school.
- Edward C. Snyder Memorial Scholarship Fund
The friends and family of Edward C. Snyder created a scholarship fund for educational costs for a student at a college or other institution of performing arts to prepare for a career in the performing arts.
- James F. Swift Scholarship Fund
4 year renewable scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors at a high schools in Lackawanna County for educational expenses at a college or other accredited educational institution.
- Ann Wall Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by the family of Ann Wall as a memorial scholarship for a college or business school student from Lackawanna Trail High School.
- Ashley & Erin Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by an anonymous donor in memory of Ashley and Erin Williams. A scholarship is presented annually to a senior at North Pocono High School for higher education expenses.
- Midori Yamanouchi-Rynn, Ph.D. Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund established in 2009 by Dr. Jay Nathan in honor of Midori Yamanouchi-Rynn, Ph.D. to assist local high school students with expenses at a local college.
