#PhilanthropyFriday: Networking with the Funders: Stronger partnerships for a stronger region

Nearly 150 people gathered on Thursday evening, June 6th, at Constantino’s Catering and Events in Clarks Summit, for a casual networking reception hosted by the Scranton Area Community Foundation’s Center for Community Leadership and Nonprofit Excellence which brought together dozens of funders and nonprofit organizations from the region.

The event was the 2nd Annual Networking with the Funders event, which took place this week to celebrate the very first grant that the Scranton Area Community Foundation provided to the community in June of 1954.
Taking place as part of the Scranton Area Community Foundation’s year-long 65th Anniversary celebration, this event connected foundations and other grant-making organizations with nonprofit organizations looking for funding in various areas. Scranton Area Community Foundation’s Center for Community Leadership and Nonprofit Excellence decided to host the event again this year after strong partnerships between nonprofit organizations and funders were forged following last year’s event.
Representatives from public, private, corporate and family foundations; individual charitable funds; and government agencies were in attendance. Scranton Area Community Foundation board chair, Rosemary Broderick, and Scranton Area Community Foundation President and CEO, Laura Ducceschi, addressed the crowd emphasizing the importance of building stronger partnerships for a stronger region and gave thanks to the generosity of charitable donors who fund needed resources and provide support for community services that benefit the people and communities across the region.
Scranton Area Community Foundation’s Center for Community Leadership and Nonprofit Excellence would like to thank Moses Taylor Foundation for supporting this event and also to Northeastern Pennsylvania Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center (NCAC) for their work helping to bring funders and nonprofits together for this event.
