Just Released: 2019 Annual Report

2020 has brought many challenges to our communities and our world, and we are all working together to address the many needs of our friends and neighbors.

At the Scranton Area Community Foundation, the preparation of our 2019 Annual Report offers the opportunity to reflect on this generosity which was so evident during our anniversary year, and all that we accomplished together.

Our 2019 Annual Report shows how people just like you created legacies that support the causes they care about and how those legacies are making the Lackawanna County region a better place to live. We are so grateful for the spirit of philanthropy that is alive in our region, and which only grows and prospers as we continue to move forward in the spirit of philanthropy.

In 2019, we celebrated 65 years of serving the community as a grantmaker, a charitable resource, a catalyst for change and growth, and a convener in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Highlights include the creation of 16 new charitable funds, a series of community roundtable discussions on critical issues in our region, a special 65th-anniversary mini-grants program, and our first NEPA Learning Conference for building the capacity of local nonprofit organizations in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

In our 65th anniversary year, as always, we strove to honor your generosity in the work we did every day. The knowledge gathered from community roundtable discussions on topics of food Insecurity, animal welfare, reintegration from the prison system, transportation, housing, and community & civic engagement, enable the Foundation and the charitable individuals that we serve to focus resources where they matter most. These discussions create the sparks that lead the Foundation to new endeavors.

It is with deep gratitude that we reflect on the generous spirit of giving that has enabled the Foundation to impact the community over its 65+ year history. We sincerely thank you and we look forward to what we will accomplish together in the future.

We know 2020 has had its challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, but we invite you to take a look back at all that was accomplished in 2019 as we look to the promise of better days ahead.

Very sincerely,
