Community Comes Together for the 13th Annual Cody Barrasse Memorial Tournament


The Cody Barrasse Memorial Foundation gathered on Sábado, Agosto 8 at Scranton Prep’s Xavier Center for a day of basketball, remembrance, and purpose.
The annual CJB Memorial 3-on-3 Tournament honored Cody’s fiery, competitive spirit, bringing together players of all ages for friendly competition.
Alongside the tournament, the Continue Cody’s Commitment event raised awareness for organ donation—a cause that reflects the life-changing legacy Cody left behind.
Through his selfless gift, Cody continues to make a lasting impact.


The Cody Jude Barrasse Memorial Fund, established in Julio 2017 at the Scranton Area Community Foundation, was created to cover the expenses associated with medical treatment for individuals and families who are receiving transplants or donating organs. This Fund also serves to support charitable causes, activities, and organizations in NEPA.


AAA North Penn Road to Success Scholarship Fund
SACF is excited to announce the AAA North Penn Road to Success Scholarship Fund, a new scholarship established in partnership with AAA North Penn.
Each year, three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from high schools within Lackawanna, Monroe, Lycoming, Wayne, Bradford, Susquehanna, Pike, Tioga, Wyoming, Potter, or Sullivan Counties — the eleven counties that make up AAA North Penn’s service territory.
Beyond supporting students in the communities AAA North Penn serves, the scholarship is designed to introduce younger audiences to the wide range of services and resources the organization offers.
We’re grateful for AAA North Penn’s investment in the next generation and excited to help bring this opportunity to local students!

2nd Annual Chasing Dreams for Chase Yarns 5k Run


The 2nd Annual Chasing Dreams for Chase Yarns 5K Run / 2-Mile Walk and Kids Fun Run will take place on Domingo, Septiembre 13, 2026, at McDade Park in Scranton.
The event honors the memory of Chase Yarns, a former Abington Heights runner, teammate, and coach known for his kindness, determination, and support of others.
Pre-registration closes Septiembre 9, 2026, at 11:59 PM, with same-day registration available from 8:00–8:45 AM. Packet pick-up for pre-registered runners and walkers begins at 8:00 AM.
Join the Chase Yarns Memorial Scholarship Fund for a morning full of community spirit, featuring live music, a basket raffle, and Belgian waffles from the Willy Waffle food truck.
The Chase Yarns Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Chase Yarns Memorial Fund, established at the Scranton Area Community Foundation in Agosto 2024, supports charitable causes, activities, and organizations important to the Yarns family that honors Chase’s legacy.

Team LexiStrong: Fall Mum Fundraiser for the National Brain Tumor Society
Team LexiStrong is back this fall with its annual Mum Fundraiser, benefiting the National Brain Tumor Society’s Race for Hope!
Mums are available in standard and extra-large sizes in red, orange, yellow, purple, and white, plus multi-colored mums in standard and XXL sizes. Orders must be placed and paid in full by Viernes, Septiembre 4.
Established in 2022 at SACF, the Alexis Caviston-Ashmar Memorial Scholarship Fund carries on Lexi’s wish to support others on their path to nursing, providing educational opportunities for students who share her dedication to caring for others.
Proceeds from this fundraiser support the National Brain Tumor Society’s mission to find a cure for Glioblastoma and all brain tumors, keeping Lexi’s legacy of compassion and courage alive.
Established in 2022, the Alexis Caviston-Ashmar Memorial Scholarship Fund is a charitable fund administered by the Scranton Area Community Foundation. Through this fund, Lexi’s family and loved ones continue her wish to support others on their path to nursing, providing educational opportunities for students who share her dedication to caring for others.

Swap Scranton Hosts Season-End Clothing Swap Event
Established in Noviembre 2025, the Swap Scranton Fund promotes environmental sustainability and community support through the reuse and recycling of clothing.

Swap Scranton’s summer’s-end clothing swap took place on Domingo, Agosto 23 atGroove Brewing in Scranton. Attendees were encouraged to bring 2–10 clean, gently used clothing items or accessories to swap for new-to-you pieces at no cost. All genders and sizes were welcome, and the event was free to attend.
Free community swap events like this one help participants refresh their wardrobes while reducing textile waste and keeping clothing in circulation.
Remaining items are donated to local charitable organizations, and the fund also supports other community needs, including food insecurity.
Established in Noviembre 2025, the Swap Scranton Fund supports and promotes environmental sustainability and community support by encouraging the recycling and reuse of clothing to reduce waste and keep garments in circulation.
