Now Hiring! Currently seeking a qualified candidate for Community Initiatives Project Manager

The Scranton Area Community Foundation seeks a Community Initiatives Project Manager to assist with management of a number of projects and initiatives being led in the community in collaboration with other project management and administrative staff. Though reporting directly to the VP of Administration and Operations, this position will work closely with other Community Initiatives staff to fulfill the Foundation’s strategic pillar of Community and Leadership Catalyst.

The duties and responsibilities of the position may vary depending upon the current needs of the Foundation and initiatives underway. Community initiatives can include, but are not limited to: affordable housing, quality childcare, accessible transportation, region-wide giving day, capacity building for nonprofit organizations, community safety, animal welfare, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.


Full time position with 40 hours per week. Foundation operating hours are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Schedule will be flexible with the majority within those timeframes, though occasional evening events may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

● Handle multiple projects concurrently
● Organize and schedule appointments and meetings with partners
● Take a proactive approach to advancing the work of the community initiatives
● Develop a roadmap for projects and ensure timelines and deliverables are being met
● Research opportunities, leading and well-tested solutions for community challenges, and avenues for development and growth
● Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders
● Ensure successful implementation of programs and solutions aimed to advance community initiatives
● Maintain an organized system of tracking, monitoring and prioritizing tasks and projects
● Expand your knowledge including everything from staying on top of trends or interests to gaining up-to-date resources and insights from peers
● Communicate in oral and written form with internal and external stakeholders
● Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
● Prepare agendas and presentation materials, as well as ensure accurate minutes of meetings are being taken
● Generate reports for meetings
● Participate in regular internal and external meetings, as necessary or requested

Position Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree or higher
● Preference will be given to candidates with business, project, or program management experience
● Superior organizational and time management skills

● Excellence in relationship building and respectful dialogue with partners and stakeholders
● Strong ability to prioritize projects in an effective and efficient manner
● Strong attention to detail
● Exemplary listening and communication skills
● Excellent collaboration skills with desire to work in a team environment
● Self-motivated, proactive, and creative problem solver
● Strong desire to learn
● Highly skilled in Google Suite, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, as well as Microsoft products, including Excel and Word
● Proficiency in Zoom or similar virtual platforms
● Ability to work both remotely and in an office setting at the Foundation’s offices in the Hill Section of Scranton

Compensation & Benefits

Salary may range from $47,000 to $55,000 depending on experience. Position includes premium health, dental, and vision insurance benefits with modest cost-share by employee. Insurances begin on the first day of the month following the employee’s start date. Short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance benefits included which begin six (6) months following the employee’s start date. Contributions into a pension plan (SEP-IRA) are also included. Competitive time off policy offered.
