Don’t miss Thursday’s Collaborative Meeting!

Join us for the next NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative Meeting, which will be held virtually via Zoom on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at 6:00 p.m.

We will hear updates on what the collaborative has been working on from the four subcommittees including:

  • Developing a code of ethics
  • Working on a pet food pantry
  • Planning a strategy for Trap Neuter Release
  • Planning a strategy for a Foster Registry
  • Planning an animal care summit
  • Developing a communications plan and a new website
  • And more!

In addition, we will welcome Tony Bartocci, Partner at Posture Interactive who will be the guest speaker regarding interactive marketing tools and techniques that help us reach those that we want to reach. We will also learn ways that the NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative can publicize its objectives using media, digital marketing, and interactive technology.

You will also hear about NEPA Gives which will take place on Friday, June 5, 2020. This is a unique opportunity to raise money for your nonprofit organization if you serve Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne or Pike counties. The deadline to register is May 22. Last call for this grant opportunity!

The Sheldon Family Foundation at the Scranton Area Community Foundation is seeking applications from nonprofit organizations for its 2020 grant cycle. The Sheldon Family Foundation will award two $2,000 grants to nonprofit organizations that are seeking funding for arts, natural resources/conservation, parks and open spaces, animal welfare, libraries or historical societies.Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving communities and located in Lackawanna, Bradford, Wyoming, Susquehanna, or Sullivan County.

Grant applications for the Sheldon Family Foundation are accepted through the online grants portal at the Scranton Area Community Foundation until Friday, May 15, 2020.

The NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative will set the standard for all animal welfare initiatives in NEPA and will work together, utilizing available resources to improve both the care and lives of animals.

The NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative will work on initiatives aimed at ensuring animals in NEPA achieve a happy and healthy life—free from abuse and neglect.

The NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative is a project of The Scranton Area Community Foundation. Established in 2019, the NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative is a collective of animal shelters, rescues, advocates, and sanctuaries in the region that are interested in coming together to advance various causes in animal welfare and to increase the collective resources available to these agencies. Activities of the collaborative include education, professional development, fundraising and other practices that move the goals of the collaborative forward. The Scranton Area Community Foundation serves as the convener of the NEPA Animal Welfare Collaborative.
