We are now accepting applications for our many 2023 scholarship opportunities
Beginning February 1, 2023, until April 1, 2023, The Scranton Area Community Foundation invites students to apply online for eligible scholarship opportunities through our online scholarship portal.
This year, over 70 scholarships are available to graduating high school students and current college students for a variety of studies, interests, and more, including (but not limited to):

Scholarship decisions will be announced in June.

The Scranton Area Community Foundation is also now accepting applications for the prestigious James F. Swift Scholarship!
Starting in 2023, applications for the James F. Swift Scholarship will be completed through the Scranton Area Community Foundation’s Universal Scholarship Application.
The James F. Swift Scholarship provides local high school seniors graduating from a Lackawanna County high school $5,000/year for each recipient (renewable for a total of 4 years) to assist with continuing education expenses.
Twenty area students are selected annually for this prestigious scholarship.
Please Note: All applications and renewals for the James F. Swift Scholarship must be received through the Scranton Area Community Foundation’s online scholarship portal.

The James F. Swift Scholarship Fund has awarded over $3.7 million since 2008, benefiting over 280 local students to date.
Created in 2002 through a gift by Mr. James F. Swift to the Scranton Area Community Foundation, the James F. Swift Scholarship Fund provides support for higher education for students graduating from high schools in Lackawanna County. Following Mr. Swift’s death in 2006, the Scranton Area Community Foundation gratefully received a significant gift from his estate to the scholarship fund which has allowed a great number of students from Lackawanna County the opportunity to pursue their academic and professional goals through higher education.
This competitive nursing scholarship program aims to support the growth and development of the nursing workforce in NEPA with $200,000 in scholarships to be distributed for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Careers in Care Nursing Scholarship available to students and healthcare workers in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming Counties who plan to pursue, or who are pursuing, nursing and who will practice in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
To qualify for Careers in Care Nursing Scholarships, individuals must:
